On one hand, the core value proposition of modular data centers is built on the principles of manufacturing: standardization, repeatability, and economies of scale. The trend towards greater standardization involves creating a catalog of pre-engineered, pre-validated designs for IT, power, and cooling modules. This allows vendors to streamline their supply chains, reduce manufacturing costs, and offer faster delivery times. A customer can select from a menu of standard options to quickly configure a data center that meets their needs. On the other hand, there is a parallel trend towards hyper-customization, particularly for large enterprise and hyperscale clients with very specific requirements. These customers may require modules with non-standard dimensions, unique power configurations, or specialized cooling systems to accommodate their specific IT hardware.
