What is the working principle of High Temperature Wheel Heat Recovery
China Wheel Heat Exchanger | Rotary Heat Recovery Core Manufacturer - Roter
The high temperature heat recovery wheel is a sensible heat rotary regenerator, mainly designed for high-temperature flue gas / hot process exhaust scenarios such as ovens, kilns, furnaces and drying lines. It adopts high-temperature resistant honeycomb matrix (ceramic, special stainless steel or high-temperature alloy) as the heat storage medium, and focuses on recovering sensible heat only, without moisture transfer function in most models.
The wheel is divided by a sealing partition into two independent airflow zones: hot exhaust zone and cold fresh / combustion air zone. Driven by a motor, the rotor rotates slowly at low speed.
1. When the honeycomb matrix passes through the hot exhaust side, the high-temperature waste gas flows through the channels of the matrix. The heat storage material absorbs and stores the sensible heat from hot exhaust, and its temperature rises rapidly.
2. As the wheel rotates continuously, this heated section turns into the cold air side. Cold incoming air flows reversely through the same honeycomb channels. The matrix releases the stored heat to preheat the cold air.
3. After releasing heat, the matrix cools down, then rotates back to the hot exhaust side again to absorb heat. This cyclic rotation realizes continuous sensible heat transfer between hot exhaust and cold supply air.
4. A precision brush / labyrinth sealing system is fitted between the rotor and the housing to minimize air cross-leakage and prevent mixing of flue gas and fresh air. A purge section can be added for stricter working conditions.
Key difference from normal enthalpy wheels:
Ordinary enthalpy wheels exchange both heat and moisture; high temperature wheels are mostly sensible heat only, the substrate has no desiccant coating, and is optimized for high temperature flue gas waste heat recovery.
