Each wheel can be independently controlled, allowing for precise torque vectoring that enhances stability during braking and cornering. This independent control can mimic the effect of a limited-slip differential and improve traction in various conditions. Coordination control methods have been developed to balance energy regeneration with vehicle dynamics, ensuring that vibration is suppressed while maximizing energy capture.

As OEMs like Renault explore in-wheel motors for performance vehicles, the ability to recover energy and reduce reliance on traditional friction brakes is a compelling advantage.
